About Bookstains

the original echostain

Jan 7th 2010

Bookstains is the sister site of my other blog ‘Echostains’.  As Echostains is about communication through art (the stain being the art – the communication being the echo), ‘Bookstains’ is my communication with books.   When you put your hot coffee cup on a wooden surface – it will make a stain.  When you put a book down after reading it – or finding it impossible to carry on with, it will also leave a stain or an impression on you.  This impression can be positive, negative or consist of twittering blue birds.  This blog will take a more leisurely look at what I’m reading and any book challenges which I am taking.   This is the original ideology behind the blog – but this could change.

Looking back to January, I can already see how Bookstains has changed quite a lot.  Although I am not putting a lot of book reviews on and blogging as frequently, the poetry category seems to have taken off.

I started creating poetry challenges based on well known paintings and they have proved quite  popular as viewing figures show.

The idea behind the challenges is to publicise Bookstains (as well as having creative fun) so therefore it is imperative that the poet link to Bookstains to further the challenge.

In return the poem is copied to the challenges particular page and the poets own website mentioned with a link and the poem critiqued on not only Bookstains but also on the poets own blog or website.

If you wouldn’t put the poem on your own blog, please don’t send it to mine and expect me to promote it.  This is a genuine challenge – please play fair:-)
